Sokneang, also known as Jo was born and raised in Cambodia. After her high school graduation, she was awarded for a fully funded scholarship to Hungary to study her bachelor in the field of Food Engineering at Debrecen University, specialized in insect based food and alternative protein. After her graduation, she joined a cricket farming startup as a food technologist for 18 months where she led a cricket enhanced snack for primary school children in Cambodia funded by World Food Program.
Sokneang is also a generalist who has developed her in hand experiences in relevant fields including leadership, innovation, sustainability, biotechnology and agri-food tech and entrepreneurship which she has trained and involved for the past 4 years with different international organizations and networks including EIT Food, Asia-Europe Foundation, Social Gastronomy Movement, Global Biotech Revolution, Impact Hub, World Food Program and lately with Bridge for Billions where she is one of the active mentors in mentoring Agri-food entrepreneurs in Cambodia.
Sokneang is now pursuing her inter-universities master programme is Food Technology and Innovation with Ghent University and KU Leuven in Belgium. Having her experiences involving in both ASEAN and European business culture, Sokneang is keen to facilitate in the future corporation between the two regions as a Communications Associate at ASEANCham EU.
