The European Commission has nominated new EU Ambassador-designates to Laos, Malaysia and Philippines at the turn of the summer, with their mandates starting from 1 September. Most Ambassadors serve for 4 year-terms, although their terms can vary based on the needs of the EEAS in each country.
Rafael Tristan Daerr is the new EU Ambassador to Malaysia. He was previously Member of Cabinet of the High Representative/Vice-President Josep Borrell.
Mariomassimo Santoro will serve as the new EU Ambassador to the Philippines. He was previously serving as the Head of Division for Policy Coordination and Head of Office of the EEAS Secretary-General.
Mark Gallagher will take over as EU Ambassador to Laos, previously serving as Deputy Head of Division for Southeast Asia in the EEAS.
